About Nature Playgrounds

Our Beginnings

In 2014 I was contacted by an external playground designer to see if I would be interested in constructing some playground designs. At the time I was operating my landscape company and while the concept of nature play was relatively new, it was of immediate interest to me. Having children of my own, I knew how important it was for children to have access to good playground facilities.

After the completion of our first few playgrounds it was clear there was significant interest in nature-based playgrounds, so we commenced supplying the market with a range of ready-made playground products. Strong demand then saw us quickly expand into playground design & construction.

Our Vision

At Nature Playgrounds we are passionate about providing unique, sustainably sourced, nature playground equipment, that through play, helps children’s mental & physical development. We are constantly striving to raise the bar in what can be provided for the education and development of children. We want to be recognised as the leader in Australia for the supply and construction of Nature Playgrounds.

From our Perth, Western Australian, head office, we want to expand from supplying our products through out Australia, to providing our full range of services including design, construction & maintenance. We are currently seeking to appoint suitable representatives in each state who will be able to deliver the construction & maintenance services, to the same standard and quality that we currently provide in Western Australia.

Our driving focus is to become recognised as playground company that will not only offer a standard range of equipment, but work with our clients to design and construct whatever their grand playground design.

Sustainable Sourced Timber

Nature Playgrounds are fortunate enough to have established an exclusive arrangement with a Western Australian timber supplier. Our supplier holds a license, permitting them to harvest the timbers that are left behind after logging, that would otherwise be unused and burnt off when clearing the area for replanting.

These logs are discarded by the forestry companies, as they are not straight enough or contain imperfections that make them unsuitable for most applications. Fortunately for Nature Playgrounds these logs are ideal, as we particularly want timbers with as much character and natural imperfection as possible.

The logs have also been on laying on the ground for several years and hence have partially seasoned over this period, before being harvested for our use. This means that we do not use green timbers to manufacture our playground equipment, which often cause issues due to warping and splitting as they dry.

Being able to secure these timbers means that we are not dependent on fresh logging from new areas of forest. We take great pride in this. It’s a very sustainable way to source timber and we are the only Nature Playground manufacturer that can boast this.

Our Awards

Department of Consumer Protection Awards 2018

Kidsafe WA award for the advancement of injury prevention for children. Nature Playgrounds received this above award for our continuing work alongside Kidsafe WA and furthermore our own internal work for ensuring that all of Nature Playgrounds constructed playground work always meets the required playground standards. This also extends to the products we manufacture as supply only for other contractors and clients.

2018 Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards

Nature Playgrounds entered 3 projects into the national playspace design awards however we were unsuccessful in taking out any of these categories. We did however manage to get a commendation for our St Dominic’s Primary School Project. A great little project where we needed to utilise quite an awkward size yard to fit a lot of play opportunities in. This project can be seen in our projects file under Schools.
